
Rajendra Prasad, Former President of India
An Indian independence activist, lawyer, scholar; he was even the first president of India, in office from 1950 to 1962. He was an Indian political leader and lawyer by training. He became part of the Indian National Congress during the Indian Independence Movement. He played an active part in the Indian Independence movement. He joined INC and was a prime leader from the region of Bihar, Maharashtra. He was also a supporter of Mahatma Gandhi and was imprisoned by British authorities during the Salt Satyagraha of 1931 and the Quit India movement of 1942.
