
Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India
Serving as the 14th and current prime minister of India since 2014, Narendra Modi earlier gained popularity as the chief minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014. A member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its National Democratic Alliance (NDA), he is also a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist volunteer organisation. In March 2012 and June 2014, Modi appeared on the cover of the Asian edition of Time Magazine, one of the few Indian politicians to have done so. He was awarded Indian of the Year by CNN-News18 in 2014. On 24 February 2021, the largest cricket stadium in the world at Ahmedabad was renamed Narendra Modi Stadium by the Gujarat Cricket Association.
