Batukeshwar Dutt, Indian Revolutionary
Batukeshwar Dutta is best known for his role in exploding two bombs, along with Bhagat Singh, in the Central Legislative Assembly in New Delhi on 8 April 1929. After the arrest, his alongside Bhagat Singh initiated a historic hunger strike protesting against the abusive treatment of Indian political prisoners. His efforts succeeded as they were able to secure some rights for the prisoners. He even played a vital role in setting up the Communist Consolidation, a Marxist study circle composed of co-revolutionaries like Shiv Verma, Jaidev Kapoor, Bejoy Kumar Sinha etc.
