Founder of the Aakar Charitable Trust (ACT), Amla Ruia partnered with villages to build check dams for providing water security. Mandawar village, her first check dam project, was a great success. By 2017, her trust had built 200 check dams in more than 115 villages in Rajasthan. She is fondly addressed as Paani Mata. She was conferred with Lakshmipat Singhania – IIM Lucknow National Leadership Award. She even bagged India Eye International Human Rights Observer Achievement Award 2018. Amla Ruia made her appearance in season 11 of the popular show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) in the year 2019.
